Scope of Job
We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s student body as a Lecturer in the School of Interdisciplinary Programs and Community Engagement (SIPCE) beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year.

The successful applicant will contribute to the School of Interdisciplinary Programs and Community Engagement (SIPCE) through teaching and service. Serving students on both the Edinburg and the Brownsville campus, the successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in different modalities (e.g., traditional F2F and online) for SIPCE’s Multidisciplinary Studies and Human Dimensions of Organizations programs. Courses to be taught may include MLDS 3300, MLDS 4399, and HDOS 2301.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in the liberal arts, social sciences, and/or humanities, including but not limited to anthropology, education, environmental studies, ethnic studies, gender and women’s studies, history, interdisciplinary studies, multidisciplinary studies, philosophy, sociology, etc.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching undergraduate courses in different modalities (e.g., online and traditional F2F) at the college or university level.

Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses that are multi-, inter-, or transdisciplinary.

Prior experience working at a distributed campus and contributing to multiple programs and/or departments.

Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate courses that help prepare students for their chosen career paths.

Interest in developing experiential and/or service-learning opportunities for students.

Interest in contributing to SIPCE’s focus on community engagement through teaching and service.

Interest in contributing to UTRGV’s mission and strategic goals, including but not limited to its B3 program.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
