Scope of Job
The Graduate Assistant for Student Accessibility Services will work as a member of the SAS team to coordinate and oversee Title IX Pregnancy cases; provide support to include, but not limited to, assisting with the collection and reviewing of medical documentation; case management of students registered with the office; communicate frequently with faculty; demonstrate resourcefulness with UTRGV departments and services; and other duties as assigned.
The Graduate Assistant will be introduced to the university community as well as SAS best practices in the provision of services to students with pregnancy related accommodations.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
The Graduate Assistant must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong time management and organizational skills; be self-motivated and take initiative to demonstrate progress; demonstrate an ability to work independently and in teams; and display strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to meet the demands of case management.
Computer literacy (proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, Excel for word processing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet manipulation; MS Teams, Zoom or other video communications) is required.
This position calls for effective case management to occur, thus the Graduate Assistant must demonstrate collaborative assessment of student records and evaluate options related to academic accommodations for pregnancy cases. Must possess effective communication skills (follow-up with students and faculty), as well as experience with presentations and providing training as requested. Prior experience with case management is preferred.
The Graduate Assistant will need to become proficient in the records management software utilized by Student Accessibility Services (Maxient/AIM).
The position requires a commitment to student confidentiality. This position may require assisting SAS staff on other office tasks as needed.

- Currently admitted to the UTRGV Graduate College
- Be in good academic standing
- Be registered full-time for the respective semester (nine semester credit hours during the fall semester, nine semester credit hours during spring semester, six semester credit hours during the summer session), or in the required number of semester credit hours to fulfill the only remaining requirements on the degree plan.
