Job Description
The University of Tulsa seeks an Assistant Coach and Program Coordinator for the women’s tennis program. This position reports to the Head Women’s Tennis Coach and is responsible for operational aspects of the university’s NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Program. Responsibilities include assisting with the overall management of the women’s tennis program, including oversight of the program budget and all other financial operations of the program, as well as ensuring distribution of financial aid funds to student athletes; oversight of marketing communications and promotion of the women’s tennis program; participating in fundraising efforts for the program and management of collected funds; assisting the Head Coach with recruiting highly skilled student-athletes for the women’s tennis team, both domestically and internationally; coordinating all team travel and manage equipment issues; and scheduling practices, matches, and tournaments.

The Assistant Coach, Women’s Tennis reports to the Head Women’s Tennis Coach and is responsible for all aspects of the University of Tulsa NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Program. This position will perform as a positive role model for student-athletes in an upbeat environment which strives for academic and athletic excellence and will establish a professional relationship with student-athletes, staff, alumni, and the general public in an effort to promote the university, and its athletics program.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Head Women’s Tennis Coach in the recruitment of highly skilled student-athletes for the women’s tennis team, including the ability to recruit prospective student-athletes (PSAs) both domestically and internationally
- Responsible for coordinating all team travel for the women’s tennis team
- Responsible for assisting the Head Women’s Tennis Coach with the overall management of program including operations, travel, recruiting, equipment, coaching, and team operating budget.
- Assist in marketing and promotion of the university’s women’s tennis program
- Assist in fundraising for the women’s tennis program
- Develop and implement programs to assist student-athletes in their transition to the collegiate environment
- Assist in the coordination and management of home tennis matches/tournaments
- Assist in the development of student-athletes
- Assist in the daily preparation and coordination of team practices
- Perform necessary administrative duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Tennis Coach
Required Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management; plus 12 months of experience in coaching tennis at the collegiate level. Requires knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Approximately 15%-28% of the academic year will be spent traveling outside Tulsa County to various unanticipated locations, such as other universities, for competition and recruiting purposes. Travel is usually within the United States, but some recruiting events are conducted at unanticipated locations outside the United States.
