Assistant Coach, Volleyball
Job Description
Job Summary:
The Assistant Volleyball Coach reports to the Head Volleyball Coach and is responsible for all aspects of the University of Tulsa’s NCAA Division I Volleyball Program. This position will perform as a positive role model for student-athletes in an upbeat environment which strives for academic and athletic excellence and will establish a professional relationship with student-athletes, staff, alumni and the general public in an effort to promote the university, and its athletics program.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Responsible for assisting the Head Volleyball Coach with the overall management of the volleyball program including operations, team travel, recruiting, scheduling and marketing/community engagement.
- Assists in the daily preparation and coordination of team practices, as well as provides detailed coaching instruction to improve student-athlete performance
- Assists the Head Volleyball Coach and other members of the volleyball coaching staff in the recruitment of highly skilled student-athletes for the volleyball team
- Manages and creates social media content to increase exposure of Tulsa Volleyball brand
- Works closely with academic and student services staffs to monitor the progress of student-athletes
- Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills; strong self-starter; ability to work within the American Athletic Conference; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; ability to work closely with a diverse group of people
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes, faculty, coaches and administrators.
Equivalent Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Must have 1 – 3 years of volleyball coaching experience.
Special Job Dimensions:
Work requires working with highly sensitive or confidential information and occasional overnight travel may occur.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree.
- 1 – 2 years of collegiate volleyball coaching experience.

Physical Activities: Involves bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting equipment or suppliesv
Dexterity: Ability to manipulate objects, such as operating a computer or handling sports equipment
Vision: Good vision is necessary to observe and evaluate players’ performance
