Job Summary :
The Mabee Legal Information Center (MLIC) at the University of Tulsa invites candidates for a Collection Services Librarian. This position reports to the Director of the Mabee Legal Information Center and is responsible for metadata, interlibrary loan, and systems functions for the MLIC. The Collection Services Librarian will enjoy working independently, while successfully collaborating with both library staff and faculty and students to provide enhanced access to a broad range of library materials and services.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities) :
Metadata
Catalogs and creates metadata for library resources, including archival and special collections, in all formats, using the Alma integrated library system, Digital Commons, and other systems and applying relevant metadata standards from the Library of Congress and other authorities.
Manages discoverability and access for all electronic and print resources, using Alma and Springshare products.
Interlibrary Loan
Oversees all interlibrary loan activities.
Processes ILL requests for faculty and students, both for borrowing and for lending.
Systems
Provides support for integrated library systems, for MLIC staff and patrons.
Assists with administration of library systems.
Troubleshoots electronic resources and library systems.
Other
Leads special projects for Collection Services.
Assists with research services, as needed.
Supervises staff and student assistants, as needed for Collections services projects.
Special Job Dimensions :
Works with confidential materials.
Required Qualifications :
Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program, or equivalent experience in library metadata and systems.
1-3 years of library collection services experience working with an integrated library system.
Experience using USMARC Format, LC Classification, and LC Subject Headings.
Experience using OCLC EZ Proxy.
Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, and Sharepoint.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patrons, staff, and administration.
Excellent collaborative and customer service skills, able to work effectively with patrons, staff, administration, and contacts outside the university.
High attention to detail, able to establish effective priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with Alma, OCLC, SpringShare, and Digital Commons.
Experience with ILS administration.
Experience with managing electronic resources and working with resource vendors.
Experience working in a law library.
Physical Demands :
Must be able to work with physical collections, which requires standing, bending, lifting library materials, pushing loaded books carts, climbing stools, etc.
Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.
