Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Recruiting, Men’s Basketball provides support and assistance to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and other members of the men’s basketball coaching staff in overseeing all aspects relating to student-athlete recruitment efforts.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:
- Coordinate with the Head Men’s Basketball Coach on all recruiting efforts of the men’s basketball program
- Oversee the operational and administrative aspects of all unofficial and official visits including recruiting events and activities
- Coordinate the men’s basketball program’s evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes and transfers
- Coordinate with Athletics Compliance office in the evaluation of high school transcripts for verbally committed prospects to determine NCAA initial eligibility
- Work with Compliance staff on NCAA rules, regulations, and standards, particularly in the area of student-athlete eligibility
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with high school administration, coaches, and staff through outreach and educational programing
- Serve as the primary liaison for high schools regarding men’s basketball at The University of Tulsa
- Assist in the coordination of housing and dining needs for men’s basketball student-athletes
- Direct and implement plans for all summer camp and coaching clinic activities
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience in operations or related field within intercollegiate athletics
- Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and recruiting software
- Self-management and self-direction
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills and great attention to detail.
- Candidate must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes; former collegiate men’s basketball student-athlete
