Job Description
Job Summary:
Performs a variety of tasks and duties in a multi-task environment that may include working with data of sensitive/confidential nature, including personal employee information. Is responsible for providing authoritative assistance and direction in the area of payroll services.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Responsible for processing monthly payroll.
- Supervises payroll functions including a payroll coordinator and mentors team members to support their professional development.
- Ensures payroll is processed timely and accurately to the payroll team’s ability.
- Partners with finance, HRIS, and HR to carry out payroll processing.
- Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of any necessary monthly payroll reconciliations.
- Conducts periodic audits of payroll information in database for accuracy.
- Oversees the processing of year end W-2s, and any other employee tax reporting information at the end of each calendar year.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Equivalent Education/Experience
- Bachelors in accounting or combination of education and work experience.
- Must have 3 – 5 years in Payroll experience.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Attentiveness to detail.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in business field preferred.
Payroll management experience in higher education.
Payroll management experience in higher education.
Physical Demands
Normal physical demands for an indoor office setting.
