What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Lab Technician (Per Diem) position at The University of Vermont Health Network?

Job Description:
Performs a variety of routine and complex tests in all areas of the laboratory, following established procedures, as assigned. Areas included are hematology, immunology, bacteriology, chemistry, serology, and microscopy. Commands knowledge of laboratory information system. Functions in areas of phlebotomy, specimen handling and processing, and report distribution as required.
Job Specifications:
Able to read, write and speak the English language.
Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or a related science is required.
Clinical education in a school of Medical Technology or an affiliated agency.
Certification as an MT by the Board of Registry of ASCP, CLS by NCA, AMT, HEW or ISCLT
is recommended. Must meet CLIA requirements for job position.
Experience is not required.
Approximately one year is required to learn the job for satisfactory performance. This will be evaluated by the Laboratory Director.
