Clinical Assistant Experience
The University of Vermont Health Network offers a 10-week paid learning opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on experience as a clinical assistant. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse mentor, you will have the chance to enhance your clinical skills and observe real-world scenarios.
As a per diem employee, you will have some flexibility in your schedule; however, it is essential to be available for the duration of the program and designated weekly hours. Note that current employees are not eligible for this opportunity.
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be entering your senior year of an accredited AAS or BSN Nursing Program and provide an unofficial transcript.
- A letter of recommendation from a nursing faculty member is required.
- Good academic standing is necessary, with two letters of recommendation required if GPA is lower than 3.0 (at least one from a clinical instructor).
- A current BLS card that does not expire during the extern program is mandatory.
