What are the responsibilities and job description for the Obstetric Sonographer - OB/GYN position at The University of Vermont Health Network?
Primary Shift: 0745-1615
Secondary Shift: 0800-1630
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs diagnostic/obstetrical ultrasounds on patients as ordered by a licensed provider, in an ethical and professional manner. AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is not a qualifying factor to obtain the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. Must be registered by the RDMS in OB.
2. Must have 5 years of ultrasound experience in the obstetrical setting, excluding training time.
3. Proficient in 2nd/3rd trimester anatomy ultrasound.
4. AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
5. Requires sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills in dealing with apprehensive patients and family in a professional and compassionate manner.
6. Requires positive and effective communicating skills for interaction with physicians and staff in any situation.
7. Requires the ability to think and act quickly in order to deliver efficient quality care in a variety of stressful situations.
8. Must maintain a working knowledge of all ultrasound equipment.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
