Description :
An Operating Room Technician – (ORT) plays a vital role as a member of the surgical team, serving as a primary scrub person who must be technically adept in handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary before, during, and after surgical procedures. ORTs are required to perform all cases that surgeons perform, working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse when circulating.
Key Responsibilities :
- Take call as scheduled
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon
- Maintain excellent adaptation and coping skills
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and teamwork abilities
- Stand for prolonged periods
- Lift patients and equipment with assistance from other personnel or independently as needed
- Communicate effectively and maintain asepsis at all times
- Serve as a resource person for certain specialties
- Assist with the orientation, training, and mentorship of new ORTs
- Collaborate closely with RNs regarding instrumentation and equipment for cases
- Contribute to the education of all ORTs

Work Environment : Primarily at CVPH main campus with assignments to Ambulatory Surgery Center.
