What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Admissions Specialist position at The University of Vermont Health Network?
We are seeking an experienced professional to fill this key role in our Inpatient Psychiatric Units.
">The successful candidate will collaborate closely with referring providers to determine the most appropriate level of care and treatment options for our patients.
">Key Accountabilities:
">- Ensure effective coordination between clinical, administrative, and insurance teams to ensure seamless admissions processes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with case managers across medical services to identify patients requiring psychiatric care within the hospital.
- Foster open communication with patients awaiting placement, referred by the Psychiatric Consult Service or located in the Emergency Department, to facilitate timely placement where possible.
- Manage a list of patients awaiting placement at our facility in the ED, streamlining the process for optimal patient outcomes.
- Evaluate all referred patients to determine medication compliance, behavioral issues, treatment needs, medical complexity, and overall suitability for our psychiatry units.
Essential Qualifications:
">- A State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license is a must-have.
- As we transition towards an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce, new hires or current employees promoted to RN positions will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in their offer letter.
Preferred Experience:
">- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in mental health treatment settings, providing direct care and behavioral interventions is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in admissions is a significant asset.
