What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer position at The University of Vermont Health Network?
JOB DESCRIPTION :
Each University of Vermont Medical Center Security Officer is assigned to a specific Campus. The primary responsibilities of the Security Officer are to conduct patrol duties, respond immediately to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, and document services provided on each shift. The Security Officer is expected to act in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Note : Emergency calls for assistance frequently require Security Officers to take the lead in controlling a violent / threatening situation after clinical and non-clinical staff have attempted to verbally deescalate a difficult situation. Security intervention frequently requires detaining and / or restraining the violent patient, visitor, or staff member.
EDUCATION :
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
EXPERIENCE :
Prior security or public safety experience preferred, with an emphasis on providing a safe and dignified environment in stressful situations with a diverse patient, visitor and staff population.
