What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Sales Associate position at The UPS Store?
The UPS Store in Blaine, WA is excited to hire their next resume building part-time (full time potential/willing) Sales Associate! We need someone who has FULL availability and flexibilty with scheduling. We are looking for someone who can effortlessly provide customers with efficient and effective service to exceed expectations while promoting products and services to meet their needs.
It is often assumed that "The UPS Store" is connected to UPS but that is not the case. The UPS Store is its own corporate that teams up with small business owners to open each Franchise. Each store is individially owned by a franchisee. That being said this position does not offer benifits such as medical or paid leaves and such. We often get this question right of the bat and want to make sure everyone understands this starting job position before they apply.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet customers in a friendly manner; determine customer needs, and how to exceed their expectations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through customer engagement and quality product delivery. Be knowledgeable of products and services offered and properly promote them to customers.
- Identify customer needs and offer additional services which could benefit them.
- Receive, sort and place mail & parcels in mailboxes accurately.
- Record all sales transactions completely and accurately in Point of Sale system.
- Pack contents for shipping using established procedures and products.
- Receive and prepare documents for printing.
- Operate all other software packages.
- Receive and process packages for shipping, including lifting and weighing packages, accessing shipment manifesting software, and generating labels. May require retrieving packages from customer's vehicle when requested.
- Process and document damaged shipments, late and lost package claims.
- Assist in merchandising the store, including: stocking shelves with product, ensuring clean and orderly appearance of product, informing appropriate personnel of inventory levels for re-ordering supplies.
- Perform end of day duties: reconciliation of cash, credit cards, and all other transactions accurately and in accordance with company policy and procedure.
- Operate copiers, fax machines, binding equipment and all other office machines in a safe, efficient and productive manner. Help customers operate office machines located in retail area.
- General housekeeping duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:
- Any experience in working in the shipping/receiving and mail facilty is highly desired.
- 6 months -- 2 years customer service and sales experience in a retail environment.
- Point of Sale ("POS") and computer experience highly desirable.
- Experience in using standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel and Adobe Creative Software or ability to learn new software and computer skills.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly. Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Manual hand dexterity required to operate POS, copiers and binding machinery, packaging tools, and complete customer paperwork.
We are actively doing interviews and are extremely eager to find someone with a flexible schedule and who is able to work part time long term with full time potential but also someone who is willing to work full time during the busiest Holiday Season for the months of November and December.
