Temporary Visual Arts Teacher

Dates : March 3rd, 2025 - April 30th, 2025

Urban School of San Francisco seeks an energetic and enthusiastic visual arts teacher to teach 1 course of Photo, 1 course of Video, and to serve as Yearbook Advisor. This is a temporary position, starting on March 3rd and concluding April 30th. We seek an experienced teacher with an extensive background working in Photo and Video, and to teach both technical skills and creative thinking in their curriculum.

The successful candidate will be familiar with digital and alternative photographic processes, fluent in Photoshop, familiar with digital video applications (Final Cut Pro) and related technologies, and fully committed to innovative pedagogy. Previous experience with secondary school students is desirable; a sense of adventure and enthusiasm for working with adolescents is essential.

All art classes are taught in longer, studio-style periods in sessions that last twelve weeks. Visual Arts classes are treated the same as other academic classes with a typical week including two 75 minute periods and one longer two hour period. Urban School offers a broad selection of art classes and ample opportunities for students and teachers to explore the San Francisco arts community through field trips. Art facilities in the school are spacious and well equipped.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The anticipated salary range the School reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Temporary Visual Arts teacher in San Francisco is $13,787.33 to $23,141.38 for 8.5 weeks of the term.

Benefits for temporary faculty teaching 2.33 classes include proportionate stipend for school’s café, first come first serve parking in onsite garage, or access to pre-tax commuter benefits.
