Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Physicist to join our growing radiation oncology practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy treatments. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and participate in the implementation of the latest treatment techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the radiation oncologists and dosimetrists.
- Provide technical expertise and support for the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
- Participate in the implementation of new treatment techniques and technologies, such as VMAT, SBRT, and adaptive therapy.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all aspects of the radiation therapy process, including patient treatments, quality assurance checks, and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those set forth by the NRC and state health departments.
- Provide education and training to radiation therapy staff on the safe and effective use of radiation therapy equipment and techniques.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists, to ensure the highest quality patient care.
Clinics
- 2 Radiation Oncology Clinics (Silver Spring and Rockville) across Maryland.
- Currently, one site has a GE CT simulator, Varian TrueBeam, Varian Halcyon, and a Varian Bravos HDR afterloader. The other site currently has a GE CT simulator and Varian TrueBeam, with plans to add a Halcyon and Bravos in 2025.
- Currently treating around 100 patients across both sites with anticipated growth after the new accelerator goes live.
- IDENTIFY Surface Guidance
- Hyperarc for SRS treatments
- ARIA EMR and Eclipse TPS
- Radformation products (Clear Check, Chart Check, Clear Calc, and Quick Code)
- MIM with AI contouring
- Radiopharmaceutical program anticipated to go live in 2025
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Medical Physics or a related field.
- Board certification or eligibility in therapeutic medical physics from the ABR.
- Experience working Varian equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Eclipse treatment planning systems.
- Understanding of radiation safety principles and regulations.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
