The IS System Administration Supervisor oversees the Vancouver Clinic’s system administrators ensuring that systems, services, and infrastructure work reliably and securely. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to supervise a team of system administrators. The supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure and implementing IT policies and procedures. IS System Administration Supervisor collaborates with IS and non-IS groups on the design, deployment, and administration of new and existing technology services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the system administrator team. Manage performance, conduct evaluations, and support professional development.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of assigned systems. Ensure systems are up-to-date, secure, and running efficiently.
- Oversees, installs, tests and maintains PC and network hardware and software systems.
- Contributes to the development of architecture requirements of hardware and operating standards.
- Collaborates and coordinates work with other departments, vendors, or consultants, to resolve problems and implement new service offerings.
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect data and systems from unauthorized access, breaches, and other security threats.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure the best value and service for the organization’s IT needs.
- Participates in Incident Commander rotation.
- Participates in organizational strategy planning.
- Meets regularly with organizational stakeholders.
- Creates and maintains documentation for team’s standard work.
- Responsible for various audits including yearly financial technology audit.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to write/participate/lead the creation of RCAs, ROI, Vender Selection, Project Management planning, SLAs, etc.
- Candidate must be a critical thinker, with the ability to understand issues deeply, bring options for solutions, and lead discussions, teams, and vendors for resolution to problems.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both in written and oral form.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
- Willingness to work flexible, non-business hours, as needed by the flow of operations.
- Ticketing systems such as Jira Service Manger a plus.
- GPO Management.
- Experience administering Windows Servers and clients using Microsoft and non-Microsoft tools.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Minimum of five years in an IT support or system administrator role required.
- Minimum one year experience supervising technical staff required.
- ITIL certification or experience desired.
Pay Range:
$105,112.00 - $157,668.00

Benefits-eligible employees accrue PTO and Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked, totaling 120 hours in the first year for full time staff and 200 hours in the first year for full time supervisors and above, increasing in subsequent years. PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
