Salary : Starting at $70,000 (commensurate with experience).

General Purpose :
Performs professional level advancement work and develops structures and systems to build relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations who share our passion and commitment to The Vanguard School mission. The primary responsibility of the Development Director is to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events to benefit The Vanguard School.

Development and Advancement :
Actively identify and approach potential sponsors, donors, and granters who will support The Vanguard Schools compelling mission and vision
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan
Plans and implements events / initiatives that will cultivate, solicit, and steward sustainable relationships with dedicated donors that supports a philosophy of friend-raising, a transformational and not a transactional approach to fund development
Represent The Vanguard School to a wide audience in the Colorado Springs area and beyond
Recruits, trains, shapes, and leads a team of employees and volunteers in building a strong support base for The Vanguard Schools Mission and Core Values
Manages major donor portfolio
Manages the Alumni Relations of The Vanguard School (Legacy Committee); actively builds relationships with The Vanguard Schools parents and grandparents
Conduct research on individuals, corporations, and foundations; gather information for grant proposals; and write grant proposals
Manages mass mailings to donors including annual statements and appeals
Oversees and maintains a database which manages the advancement processes that ensure acknowledgement, tracking, receipting, reporting, and communication of individual donors, corporate donors, and foundations
Maintains annual advancement calendar for integrated advancement activities into the larger school calendar schedule
Coordinates with The Vanguard Schools finance department to ensure accurate tracking of gifts, donations, and grants
Plans, develops, and directs an overall strategy for development and advancement, including Annual Fund, long term initiatives, capital campaigns, and planned giving programs
Oversees all school-wide fundraising activities : approval, scheduling, organizing, tracking, and financial oversight
Assists with Social Media communication by coordinating with The Vanguard Schools Communications office to digitally announce matching gift opportunities and campaigns
Performs other duties as assigned
Job Functions :
Assists with administrative tasks : mailings, resourcing volunteers
May be required to respond to school related business after normal business hours
Minimum Job Qualifications :
Education :
Bachelors Degree required, preferably in communications, marketing, or non-profit management
Experience :
Minimum three to five years of experience in advancement, communications, or non-profit management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Comfort with digital media and social networking venues
Ability to work with confidential information
Ability to work autonomously to achieve department goals
Scope of Interpersonal Contacts :
Contacts are generally of a nature requiring disseminating and discussing routine information, but the information discussed may also be sensitive in nature, requiring a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
