Upper Elementary Groups Teacher (Grades K-3, Instructional)
Salary:
- $32,500 (Highly Qualified with Bachelors' degree and PRAXIS)
- $19.45 per hour (Non-Highly Qualified with only Bachelor's Degree)
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status:
- Exempt Regular Full-Time for Highly Qualified.
- Non-Exempt for Non-Highly Qualified / timesheet required.
Annual Days: 196
Start Date: September 23, 2024

Experience:
- Prior teaching experience preferred but not required.
- Passing scores on the Elementary Education Praxis exam preferred.
- The Vanguard School will reimburse you for the Praxis exam if taken after hire date.
Job Product: Teaching students as assistant groups teacher with the emphasis on mathematics subject.
General Purpose: To support our achievement-based group model for math. Each instructional aide will be assigned a reading and math group which they will teach independently. In addition, they serve in a support role to homeroom teachers.
Assistant Teacher Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model and support students in developing virtuous character.
- Support the school's mission through fidelity to policies and practices.
- Teach assigned math groups.
- Deliver effective instruction that promotes achievement.
- Create a positive culture of inquiry and learning.
- Support homeroom teacher with classroom management.
- Actively monitor lunch/recess for assigned homeroom class.
- Serve as the substitute in the absence of the homeroom teacher, assistant teachers, or instructional aides.
- Assist homeroom teacher in monitoring students for correct uniform standards.
- Escort students to and from all Specials classes and recesses.
- Carline and other duties as assigned.
- Support the homeroom teacher with any additional tasks required to keep the classroom and instruction running smoothly and efficiently. This may include but is not limited to such tasks as making copies, sharpening pencils, changing bulletin boards, filing student papers, etc.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Four-year degree
- PRAXIS 5205 (Reading) is a required test that must be passed in order to occupy this position.
- We ask that you plan to pass this test within 90 days of the date of hire.
- PRAXIS 5901 Series is a bundle of three Praxis tests, the 5903 (Mathematics), 5904 (Social Studies), and 5905 (Science) that may also be required for this position.
