General Purpose: The Secondary Physics Teacher is responsible for developing in each student an understanding of physics according our curriculum such that the student is both competent and confident in their understanding and application of physics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with peers and administration to engage in instruction and accomplish the following:

- Follows policies and procedures of the school.
- Assumes responsibilities outside of the classroom as they relate to school.
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility.
- Models and instructs virtuous character traits and promotes growth in wisdom, virtue, and compassion in self and students
- Creates a positive atmosphere in the classroom to help ensure success for individual student learning
- Creates and enforces classroom expectations and procedures necessary for an effective instructional environment
- Develops curriculum and lesson plans in line with The Vanguard School philosophy
- Creates and administers assessments to monitor progress
- Works with parents to ensure success for each student in the classroom
- Communicates student academic progress with parents
- Attends meetings, conferences, and in-services as required
- Coordinates special events and field trips to enrich curriculum
- Facilitates character coaching opportunities between secondary and elementary students
- Positively represents the school and its mission to the students, parents, colleagues, and general public
- Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and administration
Other Duties and Responsibilities: As needed or assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in content area.
- At least 24 semester hours in content area or passing PLACE/Praxis test in content area.
- Expertise in subject matter.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to a high performing team.
