Special Education Paraprofessional
Salary: $17.22 hourly.

The mission of The Vanguard School is to help guide students in development of their character and academic potential through academically rigorous, content-rich educational programs.
Job Product: Provides special education services in a manner which assists student achieve academic success.
General Purpose: Under direct supervision, provides assistance in implementing plans and programs related to the academic or functional skill attainment for students with mental, physical, and/or emotional learning challenges. Works directly with students, individually or in small groups as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides academic and physical assistance to students with disabilities as directed in one-to-one or in small groups.
- Assists teachers with academic instruction and the implementation of Individual Education Program (IEP) and 504
- Provide clerical support to special education services.
- Positively represents the school and its mission to the students, parents, colleagues, and public.
- Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and administration.
- Supports Student Services in the educational needs of students.
- Assists students in achieving academic success.
- Works with student(s) who may be aggressive or disruptive in class.
- Behavior support with includes physical management (training provided upon hire)
- Consultation and collaboration with Special Education and Regular Education teachers as well as related service staff.
- Positively represents the school and its mission to the students, parents, colleagues, and general public.
- Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and administration.
Other Duties and Responsibilities: As needed or assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Experience:
Prior experience working with children preferred, especially with special needs children.
