Job Title: Surgical Coordinator

Pay Status: Full Time / Hourly Non Exempt
Position Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining and updating Physicians’ surgical schedules and informing patients of surgical procedures. Serves as a vital point of contact and liaison between patients, surgeons, surgical techs and others to coordinate all pre and post -operative actions and events.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Incumbent must possess a minimum of high school diploma and two (2) year prior experience working as surgical coordinator / scheduler in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center. A strong working knowledge of medical terminology is required. Must demonstrate superior customer service, interpersonal and communication skills to tactfully interact with physicians, staff, visitors, patients and their family members. Must be highly organized with exceptional focus on details to ensure each case can begin and end on time. Must be able to oversee a high volume of cases and schedules for multiple providers, and communicate with all team members in a clear and timely manner. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding is a plus.

- Schedule surgical procedures as directed by Physicians, ensure that all procedures are entered into physician’s schedule in the computerized scheduling system. Make changes and updates as required.
- Ensure that physicians, and other stakeholders, are promptly notified informed of any changes, problems or cancellations related to any surgery.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings or presentations with any medical product vendors as directed by physician.
