Summary:

The Facility Technician oversees and maintains the infrastructure and critical equipment of the Verdes Foundation to be in a good, safe, usable, and reliable condition. Most of the job's duties will be located at the large indoor grow facilities, with tertiary work at the retail dispensaries, and manufacturing locations. The ideal candidate will be well-organized with the ability to respond with effective repairs to critical facilities and grow-related equipment. The candidate will possess a methodical understanding of how to maintain the facility and grow equipment to eliminate failures and keep all facilities and equipment running to their peak efficiency and safety. The goal is to have an efficient, safe, uninterrupted environment for our plants and people to thrive in.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 

  • Work with Facilities Manager to maintain the facilities and equipment to meet function, efficiency, health, and safety standards. This will include safely performing routine preventative maintenance services, and repairs on critical equipment such as HVAC units, swamp coolers, commercial air handlers, water systems, gas heaters, dehumidification systems, and electrical systems as well as performing new installations. 

  • Inspect facilities' structures and equipment to determine the need for repairs, maintenance, or renovations. 

  • Timely, calmly, and methodically repair critical equipment with minimal downtime. 

  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors for necessary facility work. 

  • Maintain various mission critical grow equipment includes commercial water chillers, reverse osmosis water systems, commercial water pumps, overhead warehouse lighting, pvc plumbing, copper water line plumbing, natural gas plumbing, and electrical distribution and circuitry. Maintain office spaces with kitchenettes, one kitchen, and multiple bathrooms at all locations: includes sinks, toilets, disposals, and drains. 

  • Other duties as assigned  

Qualifications and Educational Requirements: 

  • At least three years proven experience as a facilities tech, maintenance tech, or related position. 

  • Relevant professional training and industry specific certifications, licensure, or vocational training:  

  • Facilities Maintenance Tech Cert, HVAC, CFM, Electrical Tech Cert, or other 

  • Communication: active listening, diplomacy, tact, verbal, written 

  • Ability to multi-task and quickly prioritize tasks 

  • Exceptional internal and external customer service focus and employee relations skills 

  • Must be dependable, reliable, and motivated 

  • Organization, detail focused, time management 

Physical and Emotional Requirements: 

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, 8 – 10 hours multiple days in a row 

  • Must be able to lift at least 80 lbs., occasionally lift about 150 lbs. with a team lift. 

  • Ability to work in a confined area. 

  • Must be able to work in loud environments, warehouse, and grow rooms.  

  • Must be able to bend/stoop/climb/reach 

  • Must be able to tolerate a reasonable amount of work stress, high stress situations, ambiguity, and changing priorities 

  • Shall work in varying environmental conditions at timesHot, cold, humid. 

  • Shall work with dirty and laborious activities at times 

  • Emotional intelligence: self-management, self-awareness, relationship management, social awareness 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Well-versed in the various HVAC equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. 

  • Well-versed in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical distribution and circuitry. 

  • Must be proficient in safely using ladders and accessing high rooftops to work on roofs and high mounted equipment. 

  • Welding/metal fabrication - person can cut, weld, and fabricate metal stock into various simple projects like equipment stands. 

  • Purchasing - person must routinely purchase parts and equipment and needs to know what vendors to cost-effectively purchase from.  

  • Project planning- person can plan and communicate material lists to Facilities manager. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The facility and equipment are life support for the plants and processes that demand communication to not disrupt the growing environments and working environments. 

  • Excellent organizational skills - person must routinely maintain a lot of different equipment. Good analytical and critical thinking person shall analyze a lot of different information to methodically plan and execute repairs and installations. 

  • Attention to detail - person must ensure all efficiencies, upkeep, and safety standards are discovered and maintained. 

 

Compensation/Hours: 

  • Compensation -DOE; 40 hours/wk., Required Mon – Fri, some weekends & holidays, ~8:00am-8:00pm (exact schedule to be determined with supervisor)
