Verland is currently seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to join the team at our Main Campus in Sewickley PA. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing Exceptional Care to the individuals that call Verland their Home.
Shifts available:
Full Time- 40 hours
8am-4:30pm - Monday thru Friday
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for organizing and administering all health services provided to individuals, supervision of nursing staff, acting as a resource person for other departments, and oversight and maintenance of all medical records. This is a salaried, exempt position.
Contributions:
Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the nursing staff, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Clinic Nurses.
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any staffing issues or conflicts.
- Oversee staff scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
Patient Care:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care to residents.
- Coordinate functions of the Nursing Department, including medical staff, provisions of dental, podiatry, and psychiatry services and other medical consultants, as part of the Interdisciplinary Team and in the community.
- Monitor patient outcomes and implement improvements as needed to enhance care quality.
- Cooperate with multi-discipline program managers concerning the coordination and integration of nursing care with services provided by other disciplines.
- Able to administer medications via all routes without error, unrestricted, to include controlled substances.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure nursing is in compliance with regulatory agencies in order to maintain ICF/IDD certification. Participate in on-site audits and complete Plans of Corrective Actions (POC) for nursing as needed. Ensure successful implementation and completion of POCs.
- Prepare for and manage regulatory inspections and audits.
- Develop and oversee quality assurance and improvement programs, addressing any deficiencies or areas for enhancement.
- Oversee pharmacy activities, to include delivery of medications, and ensure accurate documentation from the pharmacy.

Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an active, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania. Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
- Eight (8) years of professional nursing experience (preferably in IDD field), including three (3) years in a managerial capacity.
- A master’s degree in nursing administration may be substituted for up to one year of required general professional nursing work experience.
