Description
We are looking for a Risk Manager for our Sewickley Campus at Verland. As a Risk Manager, you will be overseeing certified investigators; you'll be responsible for developing and implementing risk management strategies, ensuring compliance, and leading investigations, while also managing and mentoring a team of certified investigators. Participate in on-call responsibilities. This is a salaried, exempt position.
Contributions:
- Investigate incidents and near-miss events to determine root causes and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze data from incident reports, claims, and other sources to identify trends and patterns.
- Manage comprehensive and continuous risk management programs, including design, plan, data collection, analysis, and reporting on program risks for the following departments: Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID), Intermediate Care Facilities for Other Related Conditions (ICF/ORC), and Adult Day Programs
- Audit and manage the internal investigations performed by the certified investigator team, and at times perform internal investigations as a certified investigator, as needed
- Provide leadership for the team in areas including not limited to, recruitment, coaching, training, performance management, promotion, discipline and termination
- Develop policies and procedures related to Risk Management and program objectives, and create standard operating procedures to ensure continuity of work processes.
- Develop corrective action plans/plans of correction (POCs) in conjunction with operations staff ensuring submission of an approved POC
- Communicate on an on-going basis to department directors regarding findings and other issues important to the operations of their respective programs
- Ensure Verland IDD Incident Management protocols are developed, implemented and followed in accordance with program regulations
- Represent Verland as the incident management representative as per the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Office of Developmental Programs Bulletin #00-21-02, Incident Management, issued March 1, 2021
- Participate in the QI/Incident Management on-call rotation
- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a human services field, including but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, nursing, all professional disciplines (e.g., Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, physical therapy assistant, speech-language pathologist, audiologist)
- Master's Degree in a human services related field preferred
- Three (3) years' experience in residential service for people with disabilities management including but not limited to quality improvement, program administration and/or direct program operations supervision; experience working with people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred
- Knowledge in applicable regulations including but not limited to Pennsylvania regulations 2380, 2390, 3800, 6100, 6400, 6500, 6600, Home and Community waiver regulations and Pennsylvania State Operations Manual Appendix J for Intermediate Care Facilities
- Three (3) years' supervisory experience including but not limited to performance management
- Obtain and maintain Pennsylvania Certified Investigator status
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team including leadership ability
