What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Buyer Assistant position at The Vermont Country Store?
Position Overview:
Work behind the scenes preparing for our products to be displayed in our stores, in our catalogs and on our website. The Product Buyer Assistant supports the Product Development Manager to complete all necessary merchandising functions for a specific category or categories, ensuring merchandising information and details for all products is complete and accurate, and working with the Merchandising team to achieve or exceed department goals.
Location: 5650 Main Street, Manchester Center, VT
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the PD Manager to execute multi-channel merchandising item plans by season and year
- Work and communicate with suppliers to obtain detailed product information for all new and existing product.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure all product details are accurate and update.
- Work with vendors to ensure all product samples are received, tagged, assembled if necessary, and turned over to Advertising on schedule.
- Help track all cost and retail changes including competitive reviews and seasonal audits
- Provide administrative support related to meeting set-up, note taking and data entry.
- Serve as the key point of contact for the department and category responsibilities when the PD Manager is traveling or out of the office

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact with vendors and all levels of internal staff with a high level of professionalism
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects at once
- Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
