The Merchandise Planner is responsible for development and execution of financial plans and forecasts at category, subcategory, product and SKUs that support merchandise strategies and initiatives.
- Responsible for the quantification of the buy (Forecast) to drive profitable topline sales by sales channel
- Forecast sales, markdowns, and margin based on historical and current sales trends
- Proactively address potential inventory risks or opportunities, suggesting corrective actions as needed.
- Identify potential sales and profitability improvements, providing recommendations to department leads.
- Ensure the team (Merchandising & Sourcing/Purchasing, Retail) adheres to monthly forecast review cadence by re-forecasting in pre-peak and aligning with merchant and inventory partners on sales, margin, markdowns, receipts, and inventory related actions
- Analyze historical and current trends to identify risks or opportunities and recommend and drive strategies with cross-functional leaders to increase sales and achieve business and financial objectives
- Monitors marketing calendar weekly and ensures healthy inventory position prior to campaign/product launch. If issues arise, is proactive with equal or greater replacement recommendation.
- Provides recommendations for Purchase Orders as needed to Sourcing/Purchasing
- Owns accurate Item Record data in NetSuite (Retail price changes and other item record fields) and provides reporting as needed
- Is the point of contact for any questions regarding inventory levels across all sales channels.
- Peak Season (Sept-December - reporting cadence changes from monthly to weekly)
- Monitor SKU-level sales by week, comparing to forecast and proactively working with Sourcing/Purchasing to recommend PO moves
- Hold weekly meetings to review sales, sell through and stock position, providing recommendations to department leads (Merchandising, Sourcing/Purchasing, Marketing, Retail)
- Circulate weekly report to department leads & management team summarizing current sales to forecast, inventory position, any major inventory issues across all sales channels, and all resolutions and actions discussed with department leads.
Qualifications:

- Strategic Thinking: Developing long-term plans and strategies to optimize inventory and support business goals.
- Retail experience is required, with a preference for experience in apparel merchandising or retail planning.
- Strong experience with NetSuite is a must.
- Experience with Shopify is preferred but not required.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends to make actionable decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets; experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
- Detail-oriented, with a passion for the retail industry

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
