The GSE Mechanic will Service, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and industrial machinery. Work is performed under minimum supervision and the employee consults with the Lead Mechanic for initial job assignment and where departures from standard practices are involved. The GSE Mechanic works under the general supervision of the Lead Aircraft Mechanic.
The essential functions include but are not limited to, the following duties. - Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and component replacements in accordance with manufacturers’ technical data.
- Develop appropriate inspection and preventive maintenance schedule for GSE and machinery based on annual usage and manufacturers recommended intervals.
- Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions; performs necessary corrective action on electrical systems, engines, fuel system, and all other related GSE systems.
- Cleans and lubricates equipment.
- Reads, interprets, and complies with a variety of technical data including service letters, instructions, and bulletins issued by the manufacturer and / or available in the industry.
- Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds machinery structures and functional components.
- Services and repairs gasoline, diesel, and propane-powered engines.
- Removes and replaces defective components and makes system adjustments when required.
- Performs a variety of welding duties such as repairing GSE, machinery, or fabricating work and maintenance stands.
- Utilizes vertical milling & lathe machines as required to modify and fabricate special tools.
- Records servicing and maintenance actions on GSE and industrial machinery on records, forms, tags, and other applicable documents as required by contract with the customer.
- Maintains electronic maintenance tracking system of all GSE and industrial equipment scheduled maintenance, testing, and scheduled component replacements.
- Must be able to work any assigned shift or schedule.
- Must be able to travel, 25% and on short notice, to support aircraft and equipment operating at field sites, and to support domestic and foreign field deployments.

Normal day-to-day working conditions are inside an environmentally controlled shop with good ventilation and airflow. Work may be regularly required in outside weather conditions where employees will be exposed to all types of environmental conditions and extremes such as hot, cold, rain, wind, etc.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment including eye protection, ear protection, hand protection, respirators, masks, aprons, leather safety shoes, steel toe shoes, fall protection harness, and other equipment anytime the potential for hazards exists. The employee is occasionally exposed to highly precarious places, confined spaces, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of radiation; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
