Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate veterinary assistant/technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will assist our veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting our licensed technicians with sample collection, safely restraining our patients, processing lab samples, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and providing exceptional care to our furry friends and helping educate their owners.
Duties include:
- Assessing patients and diligently sharing findings with technicians
- Safely restraining patients
- Recording vitals and assisting licensed technicians and doctors with diagnostics
- Completing treatments as instructed by the doctor
- Basic husbandry and nursing care
- Assisting in and facilitating radiography capture
- Preparing samples for outside reference labs
- Running in-house labs
- Preparing and administering medications
- Additional responsibilities to maintain a hospitable environment
- Recording communications and data in software
- Clean and maintain equipment, instruments, and examination rooms
- Ensure a clean, well stocked and safe environment for both animals and staff
The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
- 3 years of experience as a veterinary assistant
- Comfortable with computers and veterinary software
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Team player
- Skilled at communicating with clients
- Compassionate nature with a genuine love for animals
