What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Veterinary Technician position at The Veterinary Center at Turnberry?
We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local specialist practices when referral diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, own on-line pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite with radio surgical ability, in-house x-ray capabilities, and a closely supervised hospitalization area.
- Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms
- Laboratory procedures including but not limited to: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, and fecals
- Diagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff members
- Nursing skills including: restraining patients, administering medications PO/IV/SUBQ/IM, applying and maintaining bandages, proficient IV catheter placement and venipuncture, surgery prep, anaesthesia monitoring
- Proficient in dental prophylaxis
- Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) or the ability to transfer credentials from state to state.
- Associates degree in Veterinary Technology
