Who We Are Looking For:
Are you the Special Education Teacher we have been looking for? In this position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others with a dynamic team by bringing an energetic and positive approach while working with our students!
The Victor School is a Massachusetts Approved Private Special Education Day School Program serving students between 6th - 12th grades. Located in Acton MA, the school serves students with average to superior cognitive abilities with social emotional disabilities. Our student’s learning is often complicated by social, emotional, or specific learning challenges.
The Victor School is fully approved by DESE. The Victor School team works closely and collaboratively with families, students, and school systems to provide each student with challenging, college preparatory academics in a safe, nurturing environment. Our school serves students between 6th - 12th grades within a 12 month school year operating from July - June.
Salary: $60,000 starting (dependent on licensure and experience)
Schedule: You will work the school schedule which includes all vacations offs, as well as the time you accrue - an additional 10 days a year.
JRI Provides The Training So That:
YOU will be responsible for planning, preparation, and record keeping including; maintaining a plan book of daily instruction, maintaining emergency plans in case of illness, and maintaining student attendance records and grade books.
YOU will be familiar with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
YOU will participate in IEP development and deliver instruction utilizing IEP goals and curriculum frameworks as a guide.
YOU will create a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies and support positive, active learning culture through presentation of physical environment and through consistent verbal messages that learning is important.
YOU will work with students in a clinically appropriate manner while maintaining a challenging learning environment.
YOU will serve as an academic advisor to a group of approximately 8 students.

Requirements:
Must be 21 years or older.
Massachusetts DESE Certification as a Special Educator in Moderate Disabilities 5-12 or a MA DESE Certification in related subject matter.
At least 3 years of relevant experience working with emotionally challenged/ mentally ill adolescents and teenagers.
Knowledge of child/adolescent development, be familiar with a wide variety of teaching techniques and strategies, and have a flexible approach to teaching.
Strong written and oral communication skills and be able to interact with students, families, and collaterals in a positive manner.
Leadership abilities, be able to work alone in an unsupervised environment, and have the capacity to serve as a responsible, mature, and flexible role model.
Flexible, creative, have a collaborative attitude and possess strong organizational skills.
Experience with Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Surveys, and classroom) and the Microsoft office Suite (Word, Excel, and PDF) are preferred.
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Background and driving record checks will be performed.
