Job Summary:
Prepares dietary information for use by kitchen personnel in preparation of foods for long term care residents by performing the following duties:
Essential Functions:
Writes up menus for every resident with the appropriate diet.
Ensures menus have appropriate diet listed for each resident.
Ensures each resident able to complete own menu is allowed to do so.
House marks menus using likes/dislikes.
Tallies quantities of specific foods, such as vegetables and meats, to be prepared in kitchen.
Marks tally on master menu to inform kitchen personnel of food requirements.
Processes new diets and changes as required.
Processes room changes as needed.
Ensures each residents' food preferences are adhered to.
Separates both skilled and assisted menusKeeps the Kardex up to date
On days when diet clerk is off gets menus from all residents and tallies food quantities for the next day
Visits with residents in their rooms and have the ability to problem solve and remain focused and calm in stressful situations
Qualifications:
Ability to manage difficult or emotional resident situations and responds promptly to resident needs
Have a special interest in caring for residents in a long term care setting.Must have knowledge of therapeutic diets, Mechanically altered diets, general nutrition knowledge
Ablity to read write and understand English.
Basic Computer skills and Knowledge
6 mos experience in a Long Term Care Facility preferred
