The Urgent Crisis Center (UCC) is a walk-in, police or ambulance psychiatric crisis stabilization center designed to triage, assess, and stabilize youth who are experiencing mental or behavioral health crisis. Discharge planning will include assuring appropriate lower level of care is established or referrals will be made.
JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Supervisor will provide direct oversight and support of triage in the Urgent Crisis Center (UCC). They will oversee incoming urgent client calls and referrals to assess the severity of clients. In addition, this position also includes performing supervisory functions over the Urgent Crisis Center nursing and support staff. They are responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the interdisciplinary team while supervising, mentoring, leading, and overseeing the (performance) of the UCC program. They oversee timeliness and proficiency in UCC nursing and support staff documentation to maintain integrity of the program standards assuring mandated federal and state regulatory entity standards are met. They will provide leadership to staff involved in the daily care of clients. Collaborates with psychiatrists, clinicians, pharmacy, and as well as internal / external team members to fulfill complete care requirements. The Nurse Supervisor works closely with leadership to ensure quality care is delivered to the clients. This role requires communication and organizational skills to effectively manage the team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversight in triage by assessing clinical appropriateness of clients referred. Supports Triage Coordinator and EMS process.
- Direct Supervision of the Nurses, Behavioral Support Specialists and Administrative Assistants in the UCC.
- Collaborates with team on disposition planning for UCC.
- Tracks day-to-day function and workflow in the UCC to meet client and staff satisfaction.
- Responsible for oversight and structure shift meetings and huddles for Urgent Crisis Center.
- Oversight of daily operational functions, ensuring staffing levels are appropriate and resources are allocated effectively.
- Assures all DCF requirements and documentation are upheld with the operational leadership team.
- Collaborates with clinical and psychiatry teams around client care throughout their treatment course, while serving a contact point for client issues facilitating problem resolution and supporting quality care delivery.
- Fosters a collaborative and supportive environment ensuring effective communication and workflow between team members.
- Identifies and creates policies and procedures along with the Program Director for staff and clients.
- Collaborates with external providers, or programs on any acute medical or psychiatric needs.
- Reports on the needs in communication and process development with internal programs and providers to the Program Director.
- Participates in monthly review audits / quality assurance in collaboration with UCC operational team.
- Supports process improvement initiatives to optimize team performance, client satisfaction, and outcomes.
- Coordinates the onboarding of new hires across disciplines.
- Oversees medical supplies auditing and ordering.
- Collaborates with Information Technology and Property Management (environmental safety) departments for requests and tickets for troubleshooting.
- Other duties or responsibilities withing the nursing scope of practice assigned by the Nursing Director.
