What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-School Mentor position at The Village?
Position Details:
The exciting and engaging Mentor(s) in this position will have the amazing opportunity to provide services and assistance to improve the social functions youths to have a positive impact towards betting families and communities.
Tasks & Responsibilities: Key functions may include the following. Other duties may be required.
- Familiarize with provided curriculum to facilitate in-school programming.
- Function as communication hub between mentees, lead, peers, caregivers, and The Village.
- Function as a mandated report and adhere to the reporting measures outlined in policy.
- Collect and document data (report cards, notes, surveys, etc.) and /submit reports by deadlines.
- Coordinate with administration and faculty/staff on reward system for mentees.
- Participate in school/campus events such Field Day with The Future, Quarterly Dinners, Annual Stop the Violence Period – Peace Walk, {Parent Teacher Conference, Open House and Curriculum Nights, IEP Meetings, Field Trips, and others as assigned).
- Support mentees in schools and on campuses by providing backup and filling in as needed.
- Attend other community events as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to actively listen, pay attention, and convey information effectively.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify proper and fair solutions and approaches to problems.
- Able to identify a problem or when something could go wrong; and advise/redirect accordingly.
- Team oriented with the ability to work independently when needed.
- Must demonstrate exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Must have excellent communication and people skills with ability to engage with youths.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma required, college credits and/or Associate degree preferred.
- 2 years’ experience working with youth as it relates to mentoring.
