Job Title: Custodian

• To perform a variety of tasks to support the daily operation of The Villages club facilities.
• Clean and maintain Club properties including indoor spaces, community areas and outdoor spaces.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs.
• Replace liners in trash cans. Wash trash can containers as needed.
• Rearrange furniture if any to designated configuration.
• Clean laundry rooms.
• Clean restrooms and keep all dispensers in areas stocked with soap, toilet tissue, paper towels, toilet seat covers and cleaning incidentals.
• Clean and prepare community rooms/space for use including moving furniture, delivering equipment and then removing it.
• Report damaged, broken or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor.
• Safely and effectively use a variety of cleaning compounds and equipment.
• Employee will perform other duties as necessary and/or directed within the scope of his/her position.
• Interfaces with VGCC employees, residents and guests.
• Work effectively and efficiently with co-workers.
• Work under pressure and time constraints.
• Able to use hand tools safely and competently.
• Able to identify cleaning products and their usage.
• Able to effectively use janitorial equipment.
• Ability to focus attention on customer needs, remaining calm and courteous.

• Work will be performed in a variety of settings; both indoors and outdoors with exposure to the elements; dust and wetness.
• Employees will wear company issued uniform and closed toed shoes.
• Employees will have a neat and clean appearance.
• Able to work any day as scheduled.
• Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Trained in blood borne pathogen protocols.
• Employee will competently use a variety of janitorial equipment, personal protective equipment and some hand tools.
  • These include but are not limited to buckets, brooms, brushes and screwdriver.
• Employees will receive a company phone.
• Valid California driver’s license required.

• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
• Minimum of one year paid physical labor.
• Speak, read and write English preferred
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
• Previous hospitality experience preferred

• Work is physically demanding.
• Requires a full range of body motion.
• Able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Requires repetitive pushing, standing, walking, stooping, twisting, climbing, kneeling and reaching.
• Acute vision and hearing required.
• Involves exposure to dust, chemicals, hazardous machinery, poor lighting, gas, wet quarters, noise, cluttered floors, paint and poor ventilation.
