Applicants must complete The Villages Charter School online application. In order for the application to be complete, you must also include copies of all transcripts, a copy of the Florida Professional Certificate or “Statement of Eligibility” from the Florida Department of Education, copy of resume and letters of recommendation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Terms Of Employment
205 days – Exempt. Benefits shall be paid consistent with the VCS policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment are those established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of TVCS policy on evaluations of personnel.

- 1. Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral form with students, parents and others.
- 2. Plan and effectively implement instructional activities designed to achieve goals and objectives of the curriculum and of the student’s IEP.
- 3. Meet with and instruct assigned classes in the locations at the times designated.
- 4. Provide a safe, nurturing environment that stimulates academic, moral, and social growth.
- 5. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
- 6. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- 7. Assist students in learning to accept responsibility, demonstrate respect for people and property, and demonstrate self-discipline.
- 8. Implement a variety of instructional techniques to meet varying learning styles of students.
- 9. Plan and effectively implement instructional activities designed to achieve the goals and objectives of the curriculum.
- 10. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- 11. Evaluate student progress on a regular basis, also academic and social growth of pupils.
- 12. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records and inventories as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- 13. Provide leadership in Child Study Teams, staffing meetings, and development of IEP (Individual Education Plans).
- 14. Meet deadlines for development of IEPs and other required activities for teaching exceptional students.
- Communicate with other faculty members, in regard to exceptional student needs and strategies for meeting their needs.
- Provide counseling to students on academic and career matters.
- Oversee ESE Aides if such aides are provided.
- Assist with coordination of special services such as those provided by therapists, i.e. Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech and Hearing Therapy.
- Perform such other duties as the principal may assign.
- A Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or higher from an accredited educational institute.
- One to Two years related experience and/or training
- Must hold or be eligible for certification by the State of Florida in Exceptional Student Education K-12
- Such additional or alternative qualifications to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
