DESCRIPTION:
The Villages Charter School is accepting applications for a Part-Time Bus Driver. Applicants must complete The Villages Charter School online application.
Pay Starting at $16.25 per hour.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
To safely and efficiently transport students to and from their school site and/or special event.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The expectations include the following and other duties as assigned:
- Comply with all state and local traffic laws and School Board policies and procedures relative to the safe operation of a school bus.
- Inspect the bus to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition before leaving on a route or trip.
- Assume responsibility for the safety of his/her passengers including loading and unloading.
- Instruct students in safety precautions and practices.
- Maintain appropriate student discipline and report unruly behavior to the School Principal/Principal’s designee.
- Sweep and keep the bus clean at all times.
- Prepare FEFP and other required operational reports accurately and submit in a timely manner.
- Make recommendations to improve school bus routes, stops and loading/unloading zones at school.
- Use effective, positive interpersonal communication skills.
- Report to the Service Manager or appropriate administrator, any defects in the bus or repairs needed for safe operation of the bus.
- Complete required in-service and training programs.
- When not assigned a bus route to run, will assist the Transportation Supervisor at whatever duties may be assigned. Reporting time will be established but the Transportation Supervisor when this occurs.
- Report all accidents and complete all required reports.
- Transport only authorized students.
- Keep to assigned route schedule.
- Perform other transportation duties that may be assigned from time to time from the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid CDL Class B License with passenger and air brakes endorsements.
- The applicant must satisfactorily complete a required driver training course and pass a performance test in the operation of a school bus. The applicant must also pass a required state physical examination and complete a basic first aid course.
- Must possess a basic comprehension and fluency in English. Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Testing Program preferred.
- Additional or alternative qualifications to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
183 days – Non-Exempt. Length of the work year and hours of employment are those established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of TVCS policy on evaluations of personnel.
