Statement of Job: As a Resident Care Assistant you are part of a health care team, which requires you to be able to communicate well and take direction. RCA’s require physical strength to help lift patients and equipment, and to work standing for long periods of time. You will be working with elderly residents and their families, and will need to have patience, compassion and a desire to serve and care for others. We are currently looking for caregivers who are able to work multiple different schedules.
Responsibilities of the RCA:
· Communicate with all departments, as necessary, to ensure the needs of each resident are being met
· Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) as stated on each Residents’ Individualized Service Plan (ISP)
· ADL’s might include toileting, bathing, dressing and feeding, and should be performed while promoting each residents’ independence and ensuring maintenance of their integrity
· You will also be responsible for serving food, making beds, doing laundry, and collecting trash and food trays
· Always Practice safety measures to protect and prevent harm to any resident or staff member
· Exert 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move residents or objects
· This position requires repetitive bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and walking
· Properly document any incidents or injuries in the proper logs and to the appropriate staff members
· Monitor and report any concerning changes in residents’ behavior or condition
· Complete all tasks and 2-hours checks for each resident on your daily assignment sheet
· Always follow all protocols in place, and act immediately in crisis situations
· Apply CPR or First Aid when needed, and call the proper authorities when necessary
· Adhere to all HIPPA laws
· Assist residents with mobility by providing them with physical support or by pushing their wheelchairs
· Encourage residents to take part in community activities and escort them to activities and games
· Provide companionship by actively listening to their concerns and ensuring that measures are taken in-order to keeps residents comfortable
