We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Landscape Supervisor to support the Landscape Supervisor in maintaining the beauty and health of our golf course, common areas, and surrounding landscapes.
Job Summary:
The Assistant Landscape Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the quality, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal of The Virginian’s grounds. This position will assist in overseeing daily landscaping operations, managing a team of groundskeepers, and ensuring that all maintenance activities align with the club’s high standards. The ideal candidate will have a Virginia Pesticide License, irrigation system experience, and at least three years of landscaping and grounds maintenance experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Landscape & Turf Maintenance:
- Assist in overseeing the maintenance of all golf course and community landscaping, including mowing, trimming, planting, and fertilization.
- Ensure proper care of trees, shrubs, flower beds, and turf through pruning, mulching, and seasonal plantings.
- Identify and address plant health issues, including diseases and pest infestations, using appropriate treatments.
- Irrigation & Pest Management:
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution and efficiency.
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in compliance with Virginia state regulations.
- Monitor soil conditions and plant health, making necessary adjustments to irrigation schedules and treatment plans.
- Team Leadership & Training:
- Assist in supervising and training landscaping staff on proper techniques, safety procedures, and equipment use.
- Lead by example, working alongside the crew to ensure efficient and high-quality landscaping operations.
- Assist with scheduling, task delegation, and performance monitoring.
- Equipment & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all landscaping equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and stored.
- Promote and enforce safety standards, ensuring compliance with all OSHA and company regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of pesticide applications, irrigation schedules, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in landscaping, turf management, or grounds maintenance.
- Active Virginia Pesticide License (or ability to obtain within a designated time frame).
- Experience operating and maintaining irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of plant health, soil conditions, and pest control methods.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and train a team.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
- Experience with landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, aerators, and sprayers.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and scheduling.
