Inventory Manager

Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Manager manages all aspects of inventory control efforts and inventory personnel across the VPC enterprise.

This role leads and analyzes physical inventory, SLOB, MDOs, and monthly warehouse storage charges, establishes and maintains inventory discrepancy investigations, and generates appropriate internal and external reporting to maintain adequate inventory levels and appropriate control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish optimal processes and procedures to best support and accurately record the Enterprise's inventory activities.
  • Maintain inventory balances between Navision and customer-specific databases (ex. SAP) to preserve inventory integrity.
  • Manage, perform, and track all inventory variances in Navision and customer-specific databases.
  • Investigate root causes of inventory variances and establish preventative actions.
  • Plan and coordinate annual physical inventories, cycle count schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Overses audits including regulatory, customer, or internal requirements.
  • Manages internal and external monthly customer inventory levels and SLOB reporting.
  • Use critical thinking skills when resolving issues pertaining to excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Oversee inventory write-offs, disposal requests, and cost recovery.
  • Collaborate with customers on inventory reduction strategies.
  • Manage monthly customer warehouse storage reporting and charges.
  • Develop and report on metrics to drive continuous improvement of inventory controls through the development processes and cost reduction.
  • Assess performance and implement improvements by creating, maintaining, and analyzing metric data.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with internal and external customers as they relate to inventory activities.
  • Ensure established safety and inventory procedures are followed consistently.
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for directly assigned personnel.
  • Maintain KPIs inclusive of inventory accuracy and trends.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of inventory management experience in a fast-paced production and warehousing environment.
  • Experience in safety, regulated production/GMP, planning, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, or other related areas.
  • Firm grasp of supply chain, inventory, distribution, business, and management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage others through influence and collaboration.
  • Able to manage conflict and find common resolution.
  • Sense of urgency and prioritization focus; can change direction and manage interruptions.
  • Applies excellent judgment, knowing how to emphasize facts to arrive at the best decision or tactical direction.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving motivation such as process improvement, procedure standardization, and sound decision judgment.
  • Overall analytical and critical thinking mindset with strong detail focus; produces reports that are useful and timely for appropriate audience viewing. Has financial acumen to support meaningful reporting.
  • Exceptional ability to visualize expected outcomes before implementation to mitigate potential risks.
  • Participates successfully as a team player and reliable partner on work assignments or assigned projects.
  • Organizes self, team, and resources to meet due dates.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects at one time and managing priorities based on business needs, goals, and customer timelines.
  • Apply flexibility when encountering competing priorities or demands.
  • Must have the ability to work well under pressure; able to recognize urgency.
  • Familiar with MSDS sheets.

Technology/Software:

  • Advanced PC skills: Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project,
  • Capable of doing complex Excel spreadsheets with spend data analytics.
  • Ability to adapt to various manufacturing software with a commitment to maintaining data integrity.
  • Experience with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of PowerBI preferred.

Communication:

  • Excellent writing and verbal skills. Proficient with industry technical terminology.
  • Great interpersonal communication skills, team player, cross-functional leader.
  • Good reporting skills, timely, and thorough.
  • Needs to have excellence in the quality of work with accuracy in all aspects of communication.

Physical Capabilities:

  • Strength:
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. regularly.
  • Repetitive typing and mouse usage.
  • Movement:
  • Can sit for long periods.
  • Hearing:
  • Able to function in a semi loud environment, with frequent loud bursts of noise (such as backup siren)
  • Vision:
  • Must be able to work for extended periods in front of multiple computer screens.
