Job Summary
The Volunteer Center of Lubbock is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director (ED) to lead our organization in fulfilling its mission to support and engage the Lubbock community through volunteerism, collaboration, and service. The ED will be responsible for overseeing key organizational operations, fostering relationships with donors, managing staff, and ensuring financial sustainability through grant funding, corporate sponsorships, and donor engagement. This individual will work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure the growth, health, and impact of the Volunteer Center.
Responsibilities
- Grant Oversight & Fundraising
- Oversee and manage the administration of grants from prominent funding sources, including the Helen Jones Foundation, CH Foundation, United Way Community Partnership, Community Foundation of West Texas.
- Ensure timely reporting, compliance, and continued funding from these key partners.
- Actively seek new funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and corporate sponsorships to support the Center’s programs and operations.
- Cultivate and maintain a diverse donor base, working to increase contributions through regular communication, donor engagement, and strategic initiatives.
- Financial & Operational Oversight
- Oversee financial management, including budgeting, fundraising, and financial reporting, ensuring the fiscal health and sustainability of the organization.
- Manage operational processes and ensure that organizational systems and procedures are effective, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.
- Board Relations & Communication
- Build and maintain a strong, productive relationship with the Board of Directors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategy.
- Regularly update the Board on the status of key programs, financial standing, grant progress, and community impact.
- Organize and facilitate board meetings, ensuring clear communication and the effective implementation of board decisions.
- Offer suggestions on potential new board members.
- Staff Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and supervise staff members across all departments, including communications, operations, youth coordination, partnerships, interns, and additional support staff.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to ensure team effectiveness and growth.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that aligns with the Volunteer Center’s mission, vision, and values.
- Program Development & Evaluation
- Collaborate with staff and partners to develop new programs, initiatives, and services that meet the evolving needs of the community.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and impact, ensuring that resources are being utilized efficiently and that goals are being met.
- Regularly assess community needs and adapt programs to ensure relevance and alignment with the Volunteer Center’s mission.
- Community Outreach & Partnership Development
- Develop and implement strategies to expand the Volunteer Center’s network of partnerships within the local community and beyond.
- Engage with community stakeholders, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and government agencies to promote the mission of the Volunteer Center and build a robust network of supporters.
- Represent the Volunteer Center at community events, conferences, and meetings to raise awareness and visibility.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in leadership roles with a focus on non profit management, fundraising and strategic planning.
- Strong negotiation and donor development skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in events

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
