Contract prosecution law firm is seeking a qualified attorney to provide assistant prosecution services for municipalities. Under the direction of the Supervising Prosecuting Attorney, the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney provides professional legal services on behalf of a municipality in court in criminal gross misdemeanor, misdemeanor, civil traffic infraction, community court, and civil code violation cases. The Assistant Prosecuting Attorney also handles bench and jury trials, contested hearings, appeals, and other court and administrative hearings.
DUTIES
· Reviews, files, and prosecutes misdemeanor cases and contested traffic infraction hearings in both District and Municipal Courts.
· Makes charging decision on criminal case referral from police agencies.
· Analyzes evidence, conducts legal research, writes legal briefs, negotiates resolutions, prepares cases for trial.
· Works with domestic violence advocates, conducts witness interviews.
· Collaborates with supervising attorneys and staff on multiple and/or complex cases
· Provides training and legal advice to law enforcement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
· Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
· Criminal law experience helpful
· Current license and member in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association
· Valid Washington State Driver’s License and a driving record that meets city standards.
WORK LOCATION
In-court appearance is required for the majority of hearings. Courts are located in Edmonds, King County District Court - Burien, the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center, and Snohomish County District Court. Office work can be done either in the office in Tukwila or remotely.
