Individual annual salaries / hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.Responsibilities : Performs Mammographic by following and verifying referring providers' orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies.SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED : NoneBand One (I) : Non-Certified Mammography Technologist - Technologists new to the Mammography Department who require training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist. This generally involves orientation to the Departments infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines. Is responsible for performing pregnancy tests, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the Mammography department with appropriate post Mammographic instructions.To be eligible for advancement consideration, technologist must be in good standing. Readiness for movement to Band Two is assessed by the Mammography Supervisor upon successful demonstration of knowledge and task proficiency as defined in the career ladder, is based on departmental needs, and requires final approval from the Imaging Sciences Clinical Director of Operations in collaboration with Human Resources.Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY : Performs Mammographic and Ultrasound guided exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders and remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences department and all governing bodies. SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED : Please refer to the Career ladder. MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED : Systems : Medical Record (eRecord), Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS), patient transport, communication systems, web paging, telephone / fax, printers. Equipment : Holistic Selenia, POCT instrumentation for pregnancy. TYPICAL DUTIES : - Identifies patient service requirements. - Educates patients / families regarding procedure and / or treatment to be performed. - Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patients age and ability to understand procedure (sight, hearing needs, ability to cooperate) to ensure image quality is successfully obtained. - Prepares patient for Radiological / Mammographic and Ultrasound guided procedures. - Produces high quality images and prepares / presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely - interpretation. - Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Maintains production and quality of mammographic images; - follows established standards, orders, protocols and procedures. - Ensures minimal radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques (ALARA), patient - shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and automatic exposure controls. - Assists Assistant Supervisor with all QA and QC tests and documentation to ensure compliance with Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and FDA standards. QUALIFICATIONS : Completion of formal training in an approved school of radiologic technology. Maintains current NYS licensure and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) with CE credits as required. Career Ladder : The two bands within this position are differentiated by level of independence, supervision required, and the ability to precept new employees in the use of all equipment. Band One (4060) : Non-Certified Mammography Technologist - Technologists new to the Mammography Department who require training, as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist. This generally involves orientation to the department's infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines. Is responsible for performing pregnancy tests, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the Mammography department with appropriate post mammographic instructions. Band Two (4061) : Certified Mammography Technologist - With minimal supervision is responsible for performing pregnancy tests, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paperwork and computer work, and discharging the patient from the Mammography department with appropriate post mammographic instructions. Band 2 requires a minimum of 18 months of progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in mammography in a clinical or hospital environment with at least 6 months dedicated to the URMC Imaging Sciences Department, certification in mammography, and the capability of competently performing all mammography related duties. Will serve as a preceptor in the on-boarding of newly hired technologists directly orienting to equipment, imaging routines and procedures, computer programs and software, as well as departmental and hospital policies. Additional duties may include working on special projects, such as new equipment evaluations and assisting in the design of areas where clinical equipment will be installed, or assignment to departmental committees.
