Individual annual salaries / hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.Responsibilities : Responsibilities Position Summary : The training and Education Coordinator oversees all aspects of training and continuing education of new employees, incumbent employees, Medical Technology students, and Medical Laboratory Technician students. The coordinator reviews and updates all training information as well as creates new training and education materials. The coordinator, in addition to providing continuing education for staff, is responsible for the proper documentation of training. The Coordinator works closely with other Tech V's and supervisors to ensure all staff is properly trained to perform new procedures and operate new equipment. They are also responsible for providing training and educational materials, including in-services, for medical staff as needed or requested by various hospital areas. Job Duties : - Coordinate and participates in new employee training, Medical Technology student training and Medical Technician student training and orientation.- - - Update all training information to reflect changes in policies / procedures and computer systems. - - Maintain complete documentation of all training materials presented to new staff. - - Oversee the direction of Tech IV and Tech V trainers. - - Perform evaluations of new employees and trainers - - Provide counseling to new employees and trainers as needed. - - - Coordinate and participate in training and continuing education for all Blood Bank staff : - - - Oversee / train all staff to perform new procedures, operate new equipment and computer systems - - Maintain complete documentation of all staff training in areas listed above. - - Organize continuing education material for staff to fulfill New York State requirements for Medical Technology Licensure- - - - - Provide in-services on topics of interest to staff - - - Develop competency quizzes for all areas in Blood Bank. - - - - - - - Provide support to all other technical and supervisory staff positions : - - - Update SOP's as procedures change. - - Develop new SOP's as new procedures and equipment are implemented. - - Assist with organization and distribution of information to all staff regarding changes and updates related to their area. - - Provide assistance and materials for continuing education opportunities as stated in the standards of performance. - - Coordinate Resident in-services - - Work one on one with shift supervisors to provide additional training and education to staff who require skill development. - - - Continued development of flow charts and the flow chart procedure manual. - Interact with regulatory inspectors, auditors, and assessors as necessary. - Perform all duties of a Blood Bank Clinical Technologist IV (20%) which includes working weekends, holidays and assignments from the reverse seniority list. - This document describes typical duties and responsibilities and is not intended to limit management from assigning other work as required.
