Camp Warwick is a Christian summer camp of the Reformed Church in America (RCA). Camp Warwick exists to encourage others in their experience and growth in God while creating lasting friendships.
To ensure the health and safety of our campers while they are at the pool.
Mid-June to Mid-August
Camp Director
Primary supervision is given to the Waterfront Director.
In this position, you will work alongside our Waterfront Director and fellow lifeguards to supervise our swimming pool for our summer camp programs while on duty. Lifeguards are responsible for testing and adjusting pool chemicals and levels each day and documenting certain daily tasks and data to ensure that we comply with the Board of Health. Lifeguards must also be familiar with Board of Health requirements for the State of New York. Schedules will be based on full days not hourly shifts.
- Must be 16 years of age.
- Has a valid and up-to-date Lifeguard Certification.
- Has at least 1 year of Lifeguard experience.
- Has valid and up-to-date First Aid and CPR for Professional Rescuers Certification.
- Is knowledgeable about pool chemical levels and requirements for pool safety.
- Enjoys working with children and youth.
- Enjoys working with individuals who have disabilities.
- Can work full days and has reliable transportation to and from work.
- Pre-Season
- Apply and complete the interview process and procedures:
- Online application.
- Provide contact information for 3 references to be contacted by the Camp Director.
- Participate in an introductory phone interview and a formal interview.
- Participate in a background check that includes state and federal cases as well as the National Sex Offender Registry.
- Submit all certifications.
- Accept and sign a formal contract.
- Complete Orientation.
- During Season
- Be aware of your schedule each week.
- Arrive to work on time
- Upon arrival, check and adjust pool chemical levels as needed to ensure that the water is safe. Document all data.
- Ensure that campers are aware of the camp rules and they are following those rules while inside the pool fence. You have the first and last word during a group’s pool time.
- Be actively attentive to your responsibility as a lifeguard while campers are swimming.
- Perform buddy checks while groups are at the pool. Each group must do a buddy check every day. Record buddies and checks in the log book.
- Be familiar with the lifeguard binder, pool chemical equipment, safety equipment, and emergency procedures.
- At the end of each day, gather lost and found items and hand them on the fence for campers to collect.
- Each day, lifeguards will be provided lunch.
- You must make sure that the pool gates are locked if the pool is left unattended at any time: during lunch, at the end of the day, or if you participate in an activity with a camp program.
- Post-season
- Ensure that all pool equipment, chemicals, and toys are accounted for and stored in the pool shed.
- Create an inventory list of supplies left.
- Return the safety plan and lifeguard binder, including the logbook, to the Camp Director
$17 per hour.
There are 8 weeks of camp and 1 day of orientation.
This is a seasonal, exempt position.

Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
