Camp Warwick is a Christian summer camp of the Reformed Church in America (RCA). Camp Warwick exists to encourage others in their experience and growth in God while creating lasting friendships.
To further the mission of Camp Warwick by generating healthy and safe relationships with campers of various ages and abilities through participation in programming that enriches the emotional, spiritual, social, and physical lives of campers and staff.
Mid-June to Mid-August
Primary supervision is given to the Camp Sunrise Director.
This position serves our Camp Sunrise campers. Our campers are ages 18-55 and have a variety of disabilities like Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down syndrome, and Cerebral palsy to name a few. Counselors will be assigned groups of campers and fellow counselors each week. It is the responsibility of the counselors to assist each camper with daily living tasks as well as participation in activities. Counselors are expected to participate in games, activities, recreation, and programming while developing safe and healthy relationships with campers. Camp Sunrise also takes 3 trips off property each week including Pin Street Bowling, the Warwick Drive-In Movie Theater, and Wawayanda State Park.

- Must be 17 years old.
- Pre-Camp
- Apply and complete the interview process and procedures:
- Online application.
- Provide contact information for 3 references to be contacted by the Camp Director.
- Participate in an introductory phone interview and a formal interview.
- Participate in a background check that includes state and federal cases as well as the National Sex Offender Registry.
- Submit all pertinent medical paperwork including a copy of your immunization records.
- Accept and sign a formal contract.
- Complete the Counselor’s Orientation.
- During Camp
- Arrive on the property for the week at 1 pm on Sundays.
- On Friday, we have a full staff meeting after overnight campers are signed out, usually ending by 7:15 pm.
- Display care and respect for all people and appropriate interaction between fellow counselors and leadership.
- Continually be aware of your campers, where they are, and who is attending to them.
- Know the daily schedule and be prepared to lead activities throughout the day when asked.
- Be actively involved with your campers during games and activities you are not leading.
- Work cooperatively alongside other counselors and the Camp Sunrise Director.
- Be aware of all allergies and limitations of your campers. Ensure that they are considered and attended to throughout each day/week. This includes assisting with camper hygiene when necessary. This could be toileting, bathing, teeth brushing, or feeding.
- Be aware of and attentive to campers in the event of injury, bullying, or other incidents.
- In case of injury or illness, a licensed nurse is on staff each week.
- You are expected to report the above incidents to the Camp Sunrise Director as soon as you can.
- Counselors are free in the evening after campers go to bed. You are required to stay on the property and be able to be contacted in the event you are needed. You are expected to go to your room by 11:30 pm each night.
- Each counselor will have 1 night off per week starting at 5:30 pm. Counselors are permitted to leave the property but must be back by 11:30 pm and in your room by midnight.
- Perform bed checks with another counselor when assigned.
- Comply with contract terms at all times. You represent Camp Warwick both as a member of the community and in online spaces.
- Communicate any needs to the Camp Sunrise Director, Leadership Team, or Camp Director.
- Participate in a Mid-Summer review and exit interview.
- Post-Camp/ End of season
- Help directors with end-of-season organization, inventory, packing of supplies and equipment, and storage.
$650 per week, overnight.
There are 5 weeks of Camp Sunrise and 1 week of Orientation. Contracts will be agreed upon based on 5 weeks, to be negotiated at mid-summer review if you desire to continue as a Day Camp Counselor.
This is a seasonal, exempt position.
