Racksquared is a division of Wasserstrom, focused on data center services. We currently have an opening for a first shift Desktop Support Specialist located at N. Wasserstrom in Columbus, Ohio and other locations as needed.
Summary This position is responsible to provide the first level of support to company associates via phone, remote control and email for a wide range of hardware and software issues and requests, which are logged utilizing an internal call tracking system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Completes tickets for all support related issues reported to the Desktop Services Groups.
- Provides basic administration of computer accounts and passwords across several applications.
- Coordinates “loaner” IS equipment such as LCD projectors, air cards, and laptops.
- Installs telephones on the desktop.
- Maintains current PCs, laptops and peripheral hardware including repairs, upgrades, preventative maintenance and installation of applications.
- Places calls to third parties for repairs on hardware as needed.
- Answers, evaluates, and prioritizes incoming telephone, voice mail, e-mail, and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with computer-related technologies.
- Maintains an inventory of all hardware and logs maintenance accordingly.
- Maintains printer fleet including repairs, toner replenishment, and user administration.
- Must be able to meet service level agreements to be successful.
- Prior experience installing Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office in an office environment required.
- Must be able to install and support other applications as required.
- Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office 2010 and above.
- Basic understanding of network and security principles.
- Basic understanding of Telephone systems.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred; or prior Help Desk experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CompTIA A and Network certifications preferred
MCSA certification in Windows 8.1 or above, or other relevant high-level certification preferred
The ideal candidate is confident and proficient in a Microsoft Windows and Office 365 environment
