SUMMARY

Welcome to Calypso, a brand new restaurant & lounge concept located in The Villages finest hotel, The Waterfront Inn! Calypso is a vibrant, lively dining experience located on picturesque Lake Sumter in The Villages, Florida.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

· Assist restaurant team as needed in bussing tables, running food orders, restocking supplies, acting as parking lot attendant when needed, and daily sanitation and cleaning of all Food and Beverage areas within the hotel.

· Follow and Maintain Health Department Standards, as well as assist in maintaining The Waterfront Inn standards and high Quality Assurance Standards

· Follow The Villages, hotel and AHC Handbook policies and standard operating procedures

· Always looking for ways to assists guests and going above and beyond to provide guest service

· Must provide exceptional attendance and reliability with full compliance to The Villages attendance standards and guidelines

· Attends departmental meetings and daily stand-up meetings. Brings Suggestions for improvement.

· Takes pride in their appearance and reports to work in complete uniform, wearing the proper non-skid shoes and socks professionally dressed and groomed

· Follow the AHC Safety Standards and practice safe work habits at all times, avoiding injury to self and others

· Handles, stores, and labels all hazardous substances according to state and federal regulations

· Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor even during periods of crisis or uncertainty.

· Any other additional responsibilities that may be asked by General Manager or other Managers, Chefs and Supervisors

QUALIFICATIONS
Some restaurant experience preferred
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED preferred; full-service restaurant dishwashing experience is desired
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively before guests or associates.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
ServSafe or other Food Service sanitation training preferred

  • Must be able to read and fully understand labels on chemicals
  • Frequent exposure to steam, high temperatures and humidity
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

NOTICE: The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day including holidays and weekends. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift as business demands. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
