Position Summary
The Engineering Supervisor with an Electrical focus is responsible for overseeing and executing electrical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks within the hotel. This role ensures that all electrical systems and equipment function efficiently and comply with local, state, and national safety codes. The supervisor will also assist in managing engineering operations, supervising junior staff, and supporting overall facility maintenance to maintain a luxurious and safe environment for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Supervisory Duties:
Oversee the engineering team’s daily operations, ensuring timely and high-quality work performance.
Assign, schedule, and monitor electrical and general maintenance tasks.
Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of engineering staff, providing technical guidance as needed.
Ensure compliance with hotel policies, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Electrical Maintenance & Repairs:
Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of electrical systems, including lighting, switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and distribution panels.
Diagnoses and troubleshoot electrical issues, ensuring swift resolution to prevent disruptions to hotel operations.
Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, outlets, and fixtures, ensuring compliance with safety codes.
Ensure the integrity of backup power systems, such as generators and emergency transfer switches.
Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Facility Maintenance & Safety Compliance:
Conduct periodic inspections to ensure all hotel electrical systems operate safely and efficiently.
Maintain fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and life safety equipment in compliance with fire codes and hotel standards.
Assist with general engineering duties, including HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and other maintenance work as required.
Monitor energy consumption and implement efficiency improvements where possible.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inventory.
Guest & Operational Support:
Respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
Work closely with other departments to maintain a seamless and comfortable guest experience.
Coordinate with vendors and external contractors for specialized electrical repairs or system upgrades.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Certification or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electricity, or a related field.
Experience: 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance within the hospitality, commercial, or luxury property sector.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and troubleshooting methods.
Proficiency with electrical testing tools, such as ammeters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Certifications: Valid electrical license/certification preferred; OSHA safety certification is an advantage.
Work Conditions:
Must be available for on-call shifts, weekends, and emergency repairs as required.
