The Watson Institute is hiring an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at the Education Center in Sewickley!
Location: 301 Camp Meeting Road, Sewickley, PA 15143
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4 pm, school calendar (optional summer program)
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the occupational therapy team to provide individualized therapy to students with disabilities in various school settings.
- Assist with assessments and evaluations of students' fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care abilities.
- Implement treatment plans and activities under the supervision of a licensed OT, focusing on daily living skills, self-regulation, and functional movement.
- Assist with documentation for IEP’s, RR’s, Letters of Medical Necessity, as well as treatment session and communication with classroom team, parents, and outside agencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program required
- Current PA COTA license required
- School-based experience preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Supervise students during emergency drills, classroom activities; the ability to keep up with running children and/or to lift, position, or assist with lifting students is essential to perform this task
- The essential functions of the job described herein require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination or bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and brisk walking, which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and material of moderate weight (40 pounds)
- Ability to physically restrain students for their safety and the safety of others
- Current Act 34, 114 and 151 clearances required
- Pre-employment medical examination, including a tuberculosis test required
